Civil
War, You Say? Bring It!
So one of the things about an abusive personality, such as the one exhibited
by the narcissist infesting the White House, is that they use fear to keep
people in check. Criminal mob bosses,
for instance, will threaten the lives of your family members and friends and
loved ones to keep you in line.
Narcissist President Donald Trump has already threatened America on more
than one occasion, claiming that if he’s not in office, the
economy will collapse. This kind of
threat, of course, is useless when the economy starts to tank. You can’t threaten to crash the economy if it’s
already crashing.
But recently he decided to “up the ante”, as it were.
Or... at least he supports the ante being upped.
A religious extremist by the name of Robert Jeffress in Texas told the
propaganda mill that is Fox News that if the Democrats in Congress follow
through with the impeachment of Narcissist Trump that there would be, quote,
“a civil-war-like
fracture of this nation from which our country will never heal.” A threat that Narcissist Trump then quoted
and posted in Twitter in yet another one of his tantrums.
Typical threat from a thug... “Dat’s a nice country you have dere, Democrats... shame if
somethin’ were to happen to it.”
Of course people are upset not just at the initial threat but the fact
that Narcissist Trump would re-tweet it, effectively giving his endorsement to
the threat in direct violation of his oath of office. You know, that bit about “preserve, protect, and defend the
Constitution”, and to do so to the best of his ability, so help
him God? Well, hey, what’s another
promise broken?
But, to be honest, this commentator isn’t really worried about the threat
of a “civil-war-like fracture” if Narcissist Trump is impeached. There really wouldn’t be any to that extent.
First of all, the idea that the whole country would fragment into a “civil
war” is overblown. It presupposes that
there is this overwhelming majority of people who support the narcissistic one
but, for whatever reason, are silent.
Yes, the infamous “silent
majority” that was crafted by the late President Richard Nixon. You remember Nixon, right? He’s the guy that resigned before he was
impeached. Where was that “silent majority”
when he left? I’ll tell you where they
were... they were voting for Jimmy Carter in the next election.
Narcissist Trump was not elected by the majority of the voters. He lost the popular vote. That
is a documented fact. He won because
of the quirks of the Electoral College allowing him to win in just the right states. He was not the first do to so and he will probably
not be the last. So he is not supported
by “the majority” of Americans. Just a
vocal minority. A very arrogant and self-righteous
vocal minority.
And now let’s add to that the threat of waging war against your own
neighbor and your own country. We’re not
just talking about going to the ballot box or showing up at a Narcissist Trump
propaganda rally or waiving around your MAGA hat and Trump-Pence banner (made
in China). We’re talking
war. We’re talking the kind of violence
that Eric Robert Rudolph and Tim McVeigh and Terry Nichols waged on Americans
in the 1990’s. We’re talking businesses
destroyed, buildings bombed, and people murdered. Do you really think that every one of Narcissist
Trump’s delusional “majority” will be game for that? For him?
Sure, Narcissist Trump loves to boast having
the police, the military, and even biker gangs on his side. Typical bluster from a criminal thug. But do you really think they would all support
him if he told them to wage war on other Americans?
Police in Cincinnati found
out the hard way when some of them went after Stormy Daniels following her
revealed affair with Narcissist Trump. It
was a
costly hit job on behalf of the narcissist, and that cost is being paid by
the taxpayers in Ohio. Do you really think
that police want to do that nationwide?
For him?
What we would get would essentially be a terrorist cell. A pro-Narcissist-Trump American Al Qaeda. A small minority of extremists operating
under the delusion that the rest of the nation would somehow follow their lead. Sure, they might get some support, but that
would evaporate after the first tragedy hits the airwaves.
Look at history. McVeigh and Nichols
firmly believed that their attack on the federal building in Oklahoma City
would spark a race war. They even had a
book that predicted it. That “civil-war-like
fracture” never materialized. They murdered
adults and children and they paid the price for it. Eric Robert Rudolph, who bombed the 1996
Olympic Games and several clinics, killing innocent people and also deliberately
targeted police officers, also believed that he was waging a war against
America and that others would follow him.
He got some support while he hid from authorities, but not enough to prevent
him from being captured.
What probably would happen, should that delusional splinter manifest over
Narcissist Trump’s hypothetical impeachment, would be the eventual death of the
GOP. The party would be dead. They would be forever branded not just as the
party of Narcissist Trump, but also as the party of terrorism. Who would want to vote for that? How many veterans of the wars in Iraq and
Afghanistan would want to see that extremism be mirrored in the United States?
Let’s get brutally honest here... any talk of a “civil war” is ultimately
going to end badly for the people wanting to wage it. We’ve been down this road too many
times. Sure, America is fragmented,
fractured, tearing itself apart by delusions thanks in no small part to Narcissist
Trump’s supporters, but it just takes one terrorist act on the evening news to
turn that around. And, guess what? They wouldn’t be supporting the side of the terrorists.
And... really? You want to divide
the country over a bloviated orange stained self-promoting clown act who sees
himself more as a king than a man elected by the people? An ego-driven TV personality who managed to
con his way to the White House by making promises that he would later welsh on? You want to wage war against your fellow
countrymen in *his* name?
So... civil war? I’m not holding
my breath on that. But I’m also not
going to be in fear of it. History says
that’s a losing bet.
